La Reserva Costera Valdiviana es una de las iniciativas
de conservación privada más grande del país con
60.000 ha de antiguo bosque húmedo y templado.
Durante la última glaciación esta serranía costera fue
refugio libre de hielo para múltiples especies que ya no
se encuentran en ningún otro lugar del planeta, como
el olivillo costero, que puede vivir hasta 400 años o el
milenario alerce, una de las especies más longevas
del mundo. La Reserva es hábitat de huillines,
carpinteros y el pequeño pudú.
The Valdivia Coastal Reserve is one of the most
important private conservation initiatives in the
country, with over 60,000 ha of ancient temperate
rain forest. During the last glaciation, this coastal
highland was an ice-free refuge for multiple species
found nowhere else on the planet, such as the coastal
olivillo, that can live up to 400 years; or the millennia
larch, one of the most long-lived species in the world.
The Reserve is home to the huillín, woodpeckers and
the small pudú.
