Despedimos nuestra aventura desde uno de los
lugares naturales más hermosos de la región: el
Parque Nacional Alerce Costero, ubicado entre las
comunas de Corral y La Unión. Con una superficie
de 24.694 ha de extensión, sus bosques de alerces
milenarios representan el mayor de sus atractivos,
debido a su importancia para la biodiversidad a nivel
global. La humedad reinante en este bosque alimenta
de manera imperceptible la vida que fulge en este
lugar. La cordillera de la Costa, frente al Pacífico, actúa
como una pantalla climática respecto de los vientos
saturados de humedad que provienen del océano; así,
se generan intensas lluvias que en ocasiones superan
los 2.000 mm anuales.
El Parque Nacional Alerce Costero es refugio de una
importante riqueza ecológica y paisajística asociada
al triunfo de estos ecosistemas costeros sobre las
glaciaciones que detuvieron durante miles de años
el vertiginoso avance de la vida en la tierra. Fue dicha
latencia la que posibilitó el posterior repoblamiento de
la flora y la fauna en todo el sur de Chile.
We say goodbye to our adventure from one of
the most beautiful places in the region: the Alerce
Costero National Park, located between the
communes of Corral and La Unión. It has a surface
of over 24,694 ha, where the millennia larch forests
are the greatest of its attractions, due to their
importance to global biodiversity. The humidity
prevailing in this forest feeds in an imperceptible
way the life that shines in this place. The Coastal
Mountain Range, in front of the Pacific, works as
a climatic screen regarding the ocean winds that
come from the ocean saturated with humidity,
generating intense precipitation that at times can
exceed 2,000 mm annually.
This Alerce Costero National Park is a refuge of
ecologic and landscape importance, associated to
the triumph of these coastal ecosystems over the
glaciations that halted for thousands of years the
staggering advance of life on earth. This latency
enabled the subsequent repopulation of flora and
fauna in southern Chile.
