La biodiversidad prolifera dentro del humedal de
Huitag, un área protegida ubicada en la ribera del
lago Calafquén en la comuna de Panguipulli. Sus
20 km de longitud están protegidos de la pesca
indiscriminada y del tránsito libre de embarcaciones.
Este humedal alberga un bosque pantanoso: aquí,
los huillines (Lontra provocax) y coipos (Myocastor
coypus) se escabullen entre nalcas (Gunnera tinctoria)
y musgos (Dicranoloma robustum) característicos
de la zona. El sol brilla sobre el agua tranquila y la
calma se apodera de todo lo que nos rodea.
Biodiversity thrives inside the Huitag wetland, a
protected area located in the shores of the Calafquen
Lake in the Panguipulli Commune. Its 20 km of length
are protected from indiscriminate fishing and the free
transit of boats. This wetland contains a swampy
forest: here, the southern river otter (Lontra provocax)
and the coypu (myocastor coypus) sneak out among
the Chilean rhubarbs or “nalcas” (Gunnera tinctoria) and
mosses (Dicranolama robustum) typical of the area.
The sun shines on the quite water and calm takes over
everything around us.
