A orillas del lago Ranco, el tercero más grande de Chile,
con una extensión de 442 km², se puede escuchar
el canto ceremonial de una de las 30 comunidades
mapuches que habitan la zona. Desde lo alto del cerro
Mayo vemos las 13 islas que componen el paisaje de
este lago, de las cuales, isla Huapi es la más grande y
la que alberga la mayor comunidad mapuche huilliche
del sector. A lo lejos suena una Trutruca, instrumento
de viento mapuche. Su sonido nos seduce y nos
lleva a recorrer los centenarios bosques de raulí
(Nothofagus alpina), tepa (Laureliopsis philippiana) y
coigüe (Nothofagus dombeyi).

By the shores of the Ranco Lake, the third largest
in Chile, with a surface of 442 km², you can listen
to the ceremonial chant of one of the 30 Mapuche
communities that inhabit the zone. From the top of the
Mayo hill, you can see the near 13 islands that make up
the landscape in this lake, out of which Huapi island is the
largest of them, and also home to the largest Mapuche-
Huilliche community in the area. In the distance echoes
a Trutruca, a Mapuche wind instrument. Its sound
seduces us and takes us touring the centennial raulí
forests (Nothofagus alpine), tepa (Laureliopsis philippiana)
and coigüe (Nothofagus dombeyi)
