El Calcurrupe o Kalku-rüpü Leufü, camino del brujo
o senda del hechicero en mapudungun, es un
rio de origen pluvio-nival de 16 km de extensión,
ubicado en la comuna de Futrono y que drena las
profundas aguas del lago Maihue.
Como un sortilegio, el significado ancestral
de su nombre, marca la historia de este río.
El pescador, como aquel hechicero creador,
prepara su ensalmo para encantar los peces que
brotan del fértil Calcurrupe, como recordando la
antigua comunión que existió entre el hombre y
la naturaleza.
La historia del Calcurrupe es la historia de la
pesca con mosca en Chile, esa que habla de la
introducción de los primeros salmónidos en
nuestro país, en las postrimerías del 1800 y que
da cuenta del primer Lodge de pesca en Chile, a
orillas de uno de sus tributarios: el río Cumilahue.
Adrian y Patricia Dufflocq son quienes escribieron
dicha historia y con eso un capitulo primigenio
del prominente desarrollo del turismo nacional.
Despertamos de este sueño, apreciando el reflejo
de las historias que fluyen y fluirán siempre en este
río: Adrian, Patricia, Chollinco, dn. Jorge Ellenberg,
sus moscas, los boteros, la pesca.

The Calcurrupe or Kalku-rüpü Leufü, “trail of the
wizard” or “path of the sorcerer” in Mapudungún,
is a river of rain and snow runoff origin, it is 16 km
long, located in the commune of Futrono, and it
drains the deep waters of the Maihue Lake.
Like a spell, the ancestral meaning of its name
marks the history of this river. The fisherman,
just like the creating sorcerer, prepares its
charm to enchant the fishes that pour out of
the fertile Calcurrupe, as if remembering the old
communion between man and nature.
The history of the Calcurrupe is the history of fly
fishing in Chile, a history that speaks about the
introduction of the first salmonids in our country,
in the late 1800s, accounting for the first fishing
lodge in Chile, by the shores of one of its tributaries:
the Cumilahue River. Adrián and Patricia Dufflocq
are the ones who wrote that history, writing at the
same time a primeval chapter of the prominent
development of national tourism.
We wake up from that dream, appreciating the
reflection of stories that flow, and will always flow,
in this river: Adrián, Patricia, Chollinco, Mr. Jorge
Ellenberg, his flies, the boatmen, the fishing.
