La costa de la región de Los Ríos compone un
mosaico de tradiciones y saberes característicos
de sus pescadores, artesanos, buzos mariscadores y
algueros. Su esfuerzo diario representa la sobrevivencia
de toda una comunidad conectada con el mar. Las
manos robustas de un hombre limpian la sierra
(Thyrsites atun) con la habilidad de quien ha vivido
toda su vida en el mar.
Una colonia de cormoranes liles (Phalacrocorax
gaimardi) se congrega en los roqueríos de la costa
valdiviana. Son hábiles cazadores que destacan por
el llamativo color de su plumaje, el cual se cree ha
sido la fuente de inspiración para los pescadores a la
hora de pintar sus embarcaciones.
The coast of Los Ríos Region is a melting pot of
traditions and knowledge represented by its fishermen,
craftsmen, seafood divers and algae collectors.
Their daily efforts represent the survival of an entire
community connected to the sea. The robust hands of
a man clean the snoek with the expertise of somebody
who has lived all of his life at sea.
A colony of red-legged cormorants (Phalacrocorax
gaimardi) is congregated on the rocks of the Valdivian
coast. They are skillful hunters notable by the striking
color of their plumage, which is believed to have been
an inspiration for fishermen when painting their ships.
